The war in Ukraine saw the Ukrainians receiving western tanks and realizing they didn’t solve their problems nor did the western tanks scare the Russians. In the first battle of German Leopard 2 tanks versus Russian T-90 tanks, the Russians quickly routed the Ukraine’s new toys.
NATO realized they’d made a serious mistake. They’d told the Ukrainians tanks alone wouldn’t win the battles, they needed trained crews. NATO put a halt to future tank deliveries while they debated their next course of action. While NATO was deciding what to do Poland was hit by s handful of Russian missiles that had flown off course. Poland exercised Article 5 of the NATO treaty, whereby if one member of NATO was attacked, the other members of NATO had to come to their aid. NATO begged Poland not to invoke Article 5, then the hot heads decided this would be the perfect time to declaw the Russian Bear. NATO decided to send experienced NATO tank crews with the tanks.
This time the western tanks smoked the Russians. Putin ordered the four NATO HQ in Ukraine destroyed with tactical nuclear weapons. The four explosions caused NATO to pause action while it debated its next actions. Putin sent thousands of replacement tanks and over a hundred thousand troops into Ukraine. They were destroyed by a series of nuclear land mines. No one took credit for the mines. Both America and Russia agreed to test the nuclear particles to see whose reactor was used to enrich the uranium. The answer shocked the world and led to an all-out nuclear exchange, west vs east. Mullions died in the first hours of the exchange. Missiles passed each other over the poles. The oceans boiled as hundreds of missiles broke the surface and flew to their targets.
When the war ended, most of the northern hemisphere had been reduced to ashes and dead bodies. The Russians managed to catch the American president, the VP, and the cabinet in bed. The Speaker of the House was caught mid-flight when his plane was brought down on his way back to Washington. When his plane crash landed he learned he was the new president. He appointed a major who’s been flocked to BG when the headquarters of the 1AD was destroyed by a Russian nuclear-armed missile. A scout platoon learned the mines under Kansas City were safe and large enough to accommodate the president’s staff. The issue was traveling from New Mexico to KC. The advance squad quickly learned there were thousands of refugees clogged the freeways while others blocked the off-ramps to their small towns. They didn’t want any refugees eating their small supply of food and clean water.
This is the first in a new series of the Third World War and the aftereffects of the nuclear exchange that changed the world. Follow on as the world fights then tries to pull itself back from the abyss.
